Grandfather passed away..

Last sat (4 jul), my grandfather passed away due to Bronchopneumonia and Cerebrovascular (not very sure what are these but these were stated in the death certificate), our parents never really tell us and we never really ask… Well.. He lived till 82 years old which was a good thing, so we shouldn’t be too sad right? During the 5 days helping out at the wake was tiring as there were rituals performed from day 2 to 5 and many of our relatives and friends of us/relatives had come to pay respect to him. As a few of our relatives are doing some small businesses, they have pretty big network of friends. Everyday (during the 5 days), there were a lot of people came and we (the younger generations) helped out in setting the tables, serving them and clearing at the end of the day (just like the job of the waiter!). Furthermore, we also helped to burn and fold the incense papers (money use in the netherworld) for our grandfather. we took turns to stay overnight to ensure that there were incense joss sticks burning (cannot stop – don’t know the reason). hmm.. Is late now, I shall cut everything short, during the 5 days we all were very busy, i myself missed two lectures and tutorials this week – need to catch up.. and apply LOA..

My cousin case is more sad.. He has planned his wedding dinner during dec, however due to this, he has to forward his wedding dinner to within 100 days after our grandfather passed away as they (older generation – uncles and aunts) have said that celebrations must be done within 100 days else have to wait for 3 years (so surprise when i heard this as i never heard of this rule). So, no choice, my cousin has forwarded his dinner to sep.

We all will miss our grandfather.. Just like i miss my grandmother who passed away 10 years ago.. Hope grandfather and grandmother can reunite in the netherworld….
